School Council

Welcome to our School Council Blog! Take a look at the latest updates below…
We are the School Councillors and we are actively involved in making decisions in school. We represent the ‘pupil voice’ of Clarendon. Our journey has developed in becoming a rights respecting school, has made us more aware of children’s rights, including the right to have our opinions taken into account in decisions that concern us. Our school council meets fortnightly with Mrs Homson as facilitator. Previously , two representatives are elected by each class annually, however, we now pick new representatives each term. As councillors we share ideas, interests and concerns with teachers and school leaders. We often help raise funds for school activities, including social events as well as helping people in need and supporting school.
2022 / 2023
So far this year, we have raised money for Children in Need, donated lots of items to Urban Outreach, introduced suggestion boxes, met with parents for parents evening to discuss our role in school, identified key issues from the children in school and actioned these, and developed the role of School Council in School following on from Covid.
Our School Council are developing further actions in supporting the role of new children in school and how they adapt to our school life, continued support of our charities nationally and locally, and consistently looking at ways to support our school within the community.
Watch this space to see how else we have used our voices to make changes…
